After two years of COVID-19 restrictions, the world saw the return of travelers in 2022. Take a look at the Pinkerton Crime Index risk scores for the five most visited U.S. cities in 2022 — Orlando, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and San Francisco.

San Francisco 4x, Los Angeles 3.26x, New York City 2.02x, Orlando 3.51x, Miami 3.41x

While we haven’t yet returned to pre-pandemic numbers, there has been an impressive amount of travel. Take New York, for example. According to the New York Post, before the official totals were in, New York City expected to see 56 million visitors, a 70% surge from 2021, when 33 million people visited the city that never sleeps. On the other coast, according to DiscoverLosAngles.com, Los Angeles is estimated to have recovered to 91% of 2019 levels with 46.4 million visitors.

As security and risk management experts, we know that where you stay and play may be the difference between a happy and a not-so-happy visit, so if you plan on traveling, check out the PCI risk scores for the neighborhoods where you’ll be spending your time. A score of 1.0x risk is equal to the national median, and a score of 2.0x in that area is twice the risk. Know your risk. Be safe.

We also invite you to take a closer look at two of our other top five most visited cities in our Movers and Shakers Crime Risk Snapshots: San Francisco and Orlando.
