Our next stop is Washington D.C., where museums are among the best and most memorable. There are about 74 museums total — everything from small hidden galleries that chronicle the roots of art in the United States to the Smithsonian, the world’s largest museum complex comprised of 21 museums and the National Zoo. And while you are increasing your knowledge of the world and the known universe, we want you to be safe. The Pinkerton Crime Index ranked 10 of the capital’s popular museums to help you understand your crime risk and make informed decisions about your outing. A score of 2.99x means the crime risk for that location is 2.99 times higher than the national average, like the total crime risk at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, which recently reopened in mid-October. You should definitely visit that one, we hear it redesigned 23 exhibits and now displays a full-scale Star Wars X-wing fighter!
