In this report, Pinkerton data scientists assess counties along the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts by hurricane and COVID-19 risks. First, leveraging historic data on presidential disaster declarations and population densities, we identify counties at risk of catastrophic hurricane loss. Second, we analyze daily data on COVID-19 deaths and infections to rank counties on this epidemic risk. Finally, assuming Pinkerton's total risk perspective, our team generated combined risk scores, producing an overall ranking of counties where high hurricane and COVID-19 risk both prevail.
