Maintain a competitive edge and safeguard assets by implementing a comprehensive security strategy that identifies and addresses vulnerabilities and prepares for potential incidents – one that also includes onsite penetration testing.
The role of onsite penetration testing
Onsite undercover penetration testing, also known as red teaming, is a type of site assessment that simulates a real-world attack on a physical location.
The goal of Pinkerton’s penetration testing is to determine if it is possible to infiltrate a client’s office, campus, warehouse, manufacturing facility, or other site without legitimate or authorized access. A successful penetration test can identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses that could be exploited by an attacker.
Reconnaissance and infiltration testing
Pinkerton’s red team conducts the on-location, undercover pen test in two phases: reconnaissance and the infiltration test. The reconnaissance phase focuses on gathering site-relevant information and discreet on-site surveillance and then developing a plan with the client. The second phase puts that plan into action to conduct a thorough and valid test beginning with soft penetration attempts with minimal compromise before advancing to more direct and assertive attempts to penetrate.
Assessment areas can include but are not limited to:
- Facility points of entry and exit
- Perimeter fencing
- Mechanical & electronic access control measures
- CCTV systems and capabilities
- Security guards and physical guarding of the facility
- POST Orders and Policy & Procedures
- Visitor access
- Alarms, sensors for windows, doors, etc.
- Lighting
