In today's fast-paced world, Ireland's tech and manufacturing sectors are experiencing unprecedented growth, accompanied by complex security risks—from cyber threats to supply chain disruptions. As multinational companies flock to the Emerald Isle, the need for advanced security operations has never been greater. Enter the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC)—a centralized command hub where security experts monitor threats, analyze data and intelligence, and coordinate responses to keep organizations safe and resilient.

At Pinkerton, we specialize in elevating GSOCs beyond basic Security Operations Centres (SOCs), transforming them into advanced fusion centres that provide deeper insights and faster responses.

Take our newest managed GSOC in Ireland, and our second-largest GSOC globally, for example, where embedded Subject Matter Experts, known as Pinkerton Dedicated Professionals (PDPs) are pioneering advanced security solutions in a dynamic manufacturing landscape.

The Landscape of GSOCs Services in Ireland

Ireland has become a prime hub for GSOCs, thanks to its strategic location as home to tech giants, pharmaceutical leaders, and manufacturing powerhouses. With a skilled workforce, Ireland is an ideal base for global security operations.

However, a common challenge persists: many operations in Ireland remain at the level of basic security, focused primarily on alarm monitoring or control rooms without the strategic depth for long-term risk mitigation. This creates an exciting opportunity for more advanced "fusion centres" that integrate intelligence, technology, and human expertise to anticipate and mitigate risks proactively.

"Organisations are seeking fusion-centre-style GSOCs to enhance cross-functional collaboration and mitigate risks across the enterprise, rather than maintaining isolated silos in sectors such as physical security, facilities management, or real estate," said Rory Lamrock, Pinkerton’s UK/Ireland Director.

Inside Pinkerton's Managed Security Operations

In January 2025, a prominent global leader in pharmaceuticals and innovation realized that their sector often trailed others in corporate security sophistication, prompting them to reassess their approach and explore ways to elevate their defenses amid a highly regulated environment demanding stringent compliance, frequent audits, and advanced risk management.

This international organization, focused on developing and producing essential products that support health and well-being worldwide, maintains 65 key facilities for cutting-edge research, rigorous quality assurance, and efficient distribution across multiple continents, addressing complex challenges in diverse markets. To bridge these gaps and foster scalable growth, the organization decided to outsource its physical security operations centre in Ireland. They partnered with Pinkerton to build a sophisticated new GSOC at their Ireland-based manufacturing site — a 24/7 hub for global live threat monitoring, intelligence analysis, strategic oversight, and rapid incident response.

“The question for the client was: how do we drive greater strategic value and better ROI in managing security. We worked with the client to develop an innovative, scalable centre of excellence for intelligence-led security operations in Ireland.” Rory stated.

Pinkerton manages GSOCs, offering clients a comprehensive solution for security management by staffing and operating their security centres, providing a blend of on-the-ground expertise and advanced technology. This partnership allows clients to benefit from Pinkerton's extensive network and global SOC expertise, enhancing protection and risk management tailored to specific industry needs.

“The team we’ve built is diverse, multicultural, and multi-skilled — with experts in everything from threat intelligence to security systems and travel security,” said Rory.

Growth has been rapid: starting from zero in January, the site now has about 35 Pinkerton Dedicated Professionals, with expansion plans.

“We’ve worked with the client closely in developing the strategy and the direction where the Intel team and GSOC need to grow,” said Jessica Matchett, Pinkerton Account Manager and GSOC expert. “We're planning to expand the investigations team and add more people to this security systems team. I envision, next year, we could have up to 50 PDPs."

Jessica continued, “The client wants to potentially create more GSOCs globally.”

This positions the Ireland GSOC as a model for future global expansions, potentially in APAC, while collaborating with the client's existing site in the U.S.

Live Threat Monitoring and Incident Response GSOC Services in Ireland

At its core, Pinkerton's managed GSOC in Ireland is a team of GSOC analysts and intelligence analysts working in rotating shifts 24/7, tailored to the client’s time zones.

“We use the follow-the-sun model. We have one regional intelligence analyst in the U.S., one in London, one in Singapore, so their time zones will essentially cover the globe,” Jessica said.

A typical day involves alarm monitoring, triaging incidents — from power outages to health emergencies — and providing failover support for other global sites. On the intelligence side, the team monitors threats that could impact sites, supply chains, personnel, or reputation. For example, the team has handled significant incidents effectively, such as the Iberian power outage in Spain and Portugal, where they coordinated communications via satellite phones amid total blackouts.

“There was no power whatsoever in those locations,” said Jessica. “There was also no means of communication. There was no Wi-Fi, so they couldn't communicate via e-mail or messaging platforms. But the team figured out a plan for communication using satellite phones.”

They've also monitored tensions in the Middle East, conducting daily stand-ups to inform stakeholders on potential supply chain and operational disruption.

GSOC Solutions for Businesses and Organizations

Pinkerton's success in Ireland stems from the Centre of Excellence (CoE), the backbone of our embedded PDP model, enhancing the experience of Pinkerton Dedicated Professionals (PDPs) and delivering superior client outcomes — particularly in high-stakes environments like our managed Ireland GSOC.

Beyond HR and account management, the CoE prioritizes client-goal alignment by working closely with organizations to deeply understand their unique needs, objectives, and culture, seamlessly integrating PDPs. Through regular alignment meetings, feedback loops, and open communication, the CoE minimizes risks like misalignment or performance gaps, adapting to evolving client priorities while facilitating clear expectations from the start. This tailored approach not only streamlines recruitment, onboarding, and role-specific training but also sets a new standard in risk management, where PDPs fully understand the client’s vulnerabilities, leverage global information, and apply the latest risk-mitigation strategies for measurable results.

The CoE acts as a catalyst for PDP excellence in Ireland, offering personalized mentoring, global peer knowledge-sharing sessions for best practices, and access to extensive corporate resources like industry insights and benchmarks. Regular training and professional development keep PDPs at the cutting edge, with clear growth paths fostering long-term success and higher satisfaction rates.

"Our client loves the CoE. The additional support sets us apart from our competitors," shared Jessica. "We can level up a basic GSOC into a comprehensive fusion centre — that's something the client wants."
