Vice President provides questions to ask about unknown packages

How well can you or your employees spot suspicious packages?

Due to the recent suspicious packages that were sent to prominent government officials, USA Today spoke with James McClain to discuss actionable tips and suggestions for individuals to achieve situational awareness. 

James encourages mail rooms and individuals to ask the following questions about questionable packages:

• Were you expecting a package?
• Was it sent by somebody that you know?

“What we’ve seen in movies where you rush to remove it or put it into a safe spot, that’s not the way to proceed,’’ McClain said. “It’s best to leave it where you found it and, if you have handled it, put it down and go to a safe spot and contact local authorities."
