Facial recognition may feel like something from the future, but it is being utilized today. From airports to a Taylor Swift concert, biometrics are mapping your facial features and adding that information to a database. Before adopting a facial recognition security strategy, it’s important to ask some very basic questions, but take your time when investing in storage for this data.
Jason Porter, Vice President at Pinkerton, spoke to Public Security Today with tips on how to find a dedicated server or tech vendor. “You’re not only storing information about what faces you’re seeing, you’re storing visual data of those faces or a digital map of those faces — and that can take up quite a bit of bandwidth, you’ve got to determine whether you’re going to store that offsite or via the cloud.”
