Job Summary:

The Senior Technical Writer manages the development of various technical publications that support global safety and security program and operations. The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for managing technical document projects such as standard operating procedures, policies, training manuals, instruction manuals, alarm/emergency response plans, and disaster recovery and business continuity plans. This position can be based anywhere (remote) within the United States.

Essential Functions:

  1. Represent Pinkerton's core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
  2. Serve as an authoritative resource for technical writing and program documentation.
  3. Oversee the management of program policies and procedures and manage document content through biannual reviews to ensure standardized communications and compliance.
  4. Manage the team's review and approval process (change management) to get documentation formally approved and published on appropriate platforms.
  5. Gather program metrics to measure the overall effectiveness of the program.
  6. Manage and maintain records for content change requests and approved content updates.
  7. Manage and deliver document projects by collaborating with document owners and teams.
  8. Write as necessary to assist with the development of clear, consistent messaging in documentation and communications.
  9. Write to ensure consistency in definitions, terminology, branding, standardized headings, and ensure quality control of documentation.
  10. Ensure that all documentation is written and communicated in a form that is easily absorbed and executed by all employee levels.
  11. Confer with internal team members, vendors, and stakeholders to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
  12. Collaborate with Intranet administrators to ensure that any message conveyed on the Intranet is consistent with policies.
  13. Develop and use tools such as document templates and email templates to standardize processes and communicate consistent messaging.
  14. Support project teams in completing miscellaneous projects of various complexities, and complete ad hoc short-term tasks in support of the client's initiatives as required by management.
  15. All other duties, as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred with 10+ years of experience in technical writing, with three or more years managing people.


  • Technical writing experience, with executive level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of policy, SOP writing.

Salary & Benefits Information:
Rate of pay: $115,000 / year.
